Who Is Jesus?
He is the most important or preeminent person in all history (Colossians 1:18).
- Why is He above all things? All things were created by Him and through Him (Colossians 1:16).
- He is eternal, without beginning nor without end (John 8:58).
- He sustains or upholds all things together by His Word (Hebrews 1:3).
- His first coming was spoken of or prophesied thousands of years as the Seed (Genesis 3:15) before He physically came to earth via the virgin birth.
- The eternal Son of God (Luke 1:32) who came in human flesh as a servant for mankind (Philippians 2:7).
- In His first appearance, He, grace, came for the world (Titus 2:11).
- The One Whom sin was not passed through from one generation to the next, but He took on our sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) becoming our Propitiation or His place for us subsided the wrath of God (1 John 2:2).
- His payment for mankind’s sin on a cross (Hebrews 9:28).
- Our Redeemer and Forgiver (Colossians 1:14).
- He died (Luke 23:46) but rose again (Luke 24:6).
- Once an individual acknowledges his or her sinfulness and need for The Savior can He become one’s Advocate (1 John 2:1).
- He ascended back into heaven (Luke 24:51).
- This same One who ascended will return again a second time (Acts 1:11) not for mankind’s salvation but judgement for unbelievers (Revelation 20:11-15) and rewards for His followers (2 Corinthians 5:10).
